Pest Control Tips

Here are some generic Hints & Tips that we've compiled through the years. If you have any tips you'd like to share, be sure and let us know, and we will include them on our tips page…giving you the credit, of course!

Fire Ant Bites

Dab a Q-tip (or other material) of any type household vinegar and apply to the affected area. The vinegar neutralizes the ant venom to reduce the swelling and sting.

Crickets

During the Fall season, when cricket activity is the heaviest, do not leave outside lights on more than necessary. The excess lighting attracts pest activity you do not want.

Household Ants (Interior)

Do not use an aerosol spray to kill ants. A particle or gel bait must be used to allow the ants you see to take the "food" back to their colony, which is likely located in the wall or under the slab…usually inaccessible to you.

German Roaches

Should be treated with a gel bait and glue boards. Using a spray only causes the chemical to be absorbed into the cabinets with virtually no effect. Be sure to retrieve any plastic bait stations. The roaches have likely eaten all the bait from the stations, but the remaining roaches could use the station as another "home" and the problem continues. Use lots of bait stations and be sure collect them.

Interior Pest activity

Check door seals and garage door corners for obvious holes, gaps, or cracks that may be an obvious entry way.

Do it Yourself Tip

Remember to NOT excessively apply material to the interior. The majority needs to be applied to the foundation perimeter where most problems start. The interior only need 8 to 12 ounces of material where the exterior foundation perimeter area may need 3 to 6 gallons of liquid or 4 to 6 pounds of bait/granule material. Reapply as needed, while concentrating on the outside.
